Freshly planted phylum and trees should always be tied because their roots have not yet grown. Wind reaches into the crown from whence vibrations are transferred down to the roots. The roots of the freshly planted trees will will not hold fast well and cannot anchor in the ground.
Once the tree is well grown and rooted, the supporting stakes can be removed . Make sure that the binding material is not too tight,
it should not cut or even grow into the stem.
